据《苹果日报》报道，本届金曲奖流行类入围名单将于15日公布，今年适逢金曲奖20年，深具承先启后的意义，但历届歌后张惠妹（阿妹）、孙燕姿、莫文蔚、蔡依林（Jolin）……等，都因去年没有作品势必缺席，往年竞争最激烈的“最佳国语女歌手奖”星光黯淡；倒是杨宗纬、林宥嘉、萧敬腾、梁文音等“星光帮”，全都锁定“最佳新人”，形成该奖项“星光”漫天的罕见现象。

回顾历届金曲歌后，第10届前的陈淑桦、张清芳、叶倩文近年都呈退休状态；11届之后的阿妹、Jolin、蔡健雅、杨乃文虽还在线上，但去年都没有国语新 作报名。就连表演常客Jolin和阿妹，今年也恐双双告假：因阿妹6月26日将举行“阿密特”新歌发表会，与6月27日的金曲奖颁奖典礼仅隔1 天；Jolin目前则排满海外演出及宣传，行程满档。

所幸男歌手奖还有周杰伦、王力宏压阵，但今年战火最猛的则是新人奖，因为去年发片的“星光帮”，全都报名该奖项；比较幸运的是杨宗纬，因他除了以《鸽子》提报新人奖之外，台北小巨蛋演唱会的《星空传奇Live Concert》也参与男歌手奖角逐，入围机率比其他星光成员多了1倍。此外，去年以首张专辑《Start From Here》成为香港最大销售榜HMV冠军的王若琳，也被视为新人奖的一大黑马
